Doug Casey on Why the US Is Headed into Its Fourth Turning

Virtue gives birth to tranquility, tranquility to leisure, leisure to disorder, disorder to ruin… and similarly from ruin, order is born, from order virtue, from virtue, glory and good fortune.

The bottom line is that societies arise from poverty through moral strength—and that brings them prosperity. But that prosperity brings on arrogance, and the arrogance brings on laziness, which brings on weakness and moral decline. Then they’re reduced to a condition of slavery and poverty again. Change is the only constant—except in human nature.

As I look at the United States, it seems to me the peak of American culture was the time just before Teddy Roosevelt came into office. Teddy is certainly among the top five worst presidents. And there’s plenty of competition for that title.

“Evening News” (March 24, 2023)

In Another Era, You Would Be A Chain Smoker

In another era you would smoke three packs of cigarettes a day. Maybe five.

For over seven years you have gladly bathed in history’s most expensive, most pervasive, most enduring, and most intense hate campaign ever directed against a single human being. There are no close seconds in any of the aforementioned categories.

Hitler was not judged as harshly as Donald Trump. Compare and contrast Chaplin’s take on Der Fuehrer versus Kathy Griffin’s severed head, Snoop’s assassination video, the nightly Trump-as-Julius Caeser mass stabbing, and the ongoing commentary from the women of “The View”.

Hitler. Mussolini. Mao. Stalin. Castro. Bin Laden. None of them endured a hate campaign even marginally as intense as the programmed hate of Donald Trump. The closest comparison would be Vladimir Putin and he has never been attacked with the ferocity that is only reserved for The Orange Man.

Expense. Ever wonder why Rachel Maddow rakes in a 9-figure salary? Why Anderson Cooper brings home 10 digits? Why George Stephanopoulos is locked into a multi-year compensation package that exceeds $100,000,000?

Good looks cannot be ruled out. Yes, if you and I were pinup material, good fortune might rain on us in a proportionate manner. But it certainly is not ratings and higher advertising revenue that is associated with a larger viewership. Nope.

Talking heads are compensated for their loyalty. Whatever else might be said of Lesley Stahl, she will never go off script. Nor will any other member of our vaulted Fourth Estate. Should that ever transpire, you would witness the renegade’s immediate transition to self-employed podcaster.

Loyalty is expensive. Isn’t it ironic that the people whose purported duties—reading a teleprompter—would be the absolute easiest to duplicate, all enjoy lifetime employment? David Muir and all of his media clones could be replaced by anyone who can read and speak fluent English. David Muir is said to be earn $5-$7million per year. Loyalty is expensive.

Not that Trump-hate is the only item on the Hive’s agenda but it is at the top of the list. How expensive is Trump-hate? That’s like asking an economist how much money is in circulation. An economist can use different models and they can estimate and they can calculate, but ultimately they inform us that it’s a Big Ass Number. So too, with Trump-hate.

Trump-hate is pervasive. News, Sports and Weather. Late night television. Award show acceptance speeches. Daytime Television. Shows featuring once-funny comedians. Shows featuring never-funny comedians. Shows featuring comedians in name only. National Public Radio. Twitter, Facebook. All social media. Conservative, Inc. And please do not overlook Bret Baier and his fellow truth assassins at Fox News.

Persistence. Trump-hate never goes away for very long. It flourishes both domestically and internationally. It grows in sunshine and shade and in musky cob-webbed cellars. Each harvest overflowing, year after year with plenty more on the horizon. There is no other campaign like Trump-hate.

The only comparable advertising tsunami would be the collective endeavors of tobacco companies. For decades, King Nicotine dominated TV, radio and magazines. Movie stars smoked onscreen. TV shows often featured a cigarette epilogue where the sponsored brand was touted. Lucy and Desi plugged Chesterfields. The Flintstones smoked Winstons, as did the Beverly Hillbillies. Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore enjoyed the taste of Kent in an ever-perky manner.

The weak of mind and the void of spirit were Silly Putty in the hands of hidden persuaders. “Bend me, shape me any way you want me”. If you asked a smoker, why he smoked you would get a dumb look in response. There were tobacco ad campaigns that promoted youth, vigor and virility. There were even subtexts that certain brands made one appear clever.

Seems strange now that a product that resulted in lung cancer, throat cancer, heart disease, burnt clothing, burnt furniture, house fires and bad breath, would be used as an intellectual prop, a subtle and suave version of a framed diploma. It speaks to the power of mass advertising. It speaks to the power of ubiquitous messaging. It speaks to the vulnerability of a weak mind.

Yes, you the Trump-hater have mastered a skill. You can express your vitriol one-upmanship with your nose held high. You are so vastly smarter and wiser than the pathetic Trump supporter. You are so noble and ever so virtuous. You are ever so discerning. You are sophisticated. In another era, you would be a chain smoker.

This means that the primary “enemies of the state” are thought-leaders, people who share ideas, positions or viewpoints that differ from the official narrative. Without doubt, I’m already on that list, and unless Congress takes swift action to rein in this madness, things are only going to get more dangerous from here

The great virtue of a free market system is that it does not care what color people are; it does not care what their religion is; it only cares whether they can produce something you want to buy. It is the most effective system we have discovered to enable people who hate one another to deal with one another and help one another..

Eight Startling and Uncomfortable Ways the Democrat Party Emulates the Nazi Party

First, racial and ethnic division was a central component of Nazi political strategy and philosophy. The Nazi Party was the most racially obsessed political party in human history. Today’s Democrat party is second only to the Nazi Party in their racial obsession. Every piece of legislation, every accusation against their opponents, every aspect of American society, even weather and climate are framed in imaginary racism.

The Nazi Party’s obsession focused on their perverted belief in the inferiority and superiority of the races or ethnicities. This opened the door for blaming a specific ethnic group for all the problems facing their country. The Democrat party is claiming the root cause of virtually all problems facing this nation is “systemic racism” as theoretically instigated by one particular race.

Socialism Isn’t about Creating Economies. It Is about Amassing Political Power

However, there is a critical difference between Mises and Besançon. While Mises believed that the goal of the Soviet economy was to produce usable goods and services, Besançon believed otherwise. The Soviet economy, he posited, was never about producing goods and services for consumers, but rather had other goals.

The Soviet economy existed to keep the Communist Party in power, and that was the sole criteria party leaders used to evaluate its performance. The “production” of political power was supreme, and anything else was secondary, subordinated to the main goal for the Soviet economy.

Soviet political leaders did not want an economy that produced goods abundantly because abundance separates the citizen from the state. The state would lose its power over its subjects if they became wealthier. Homo sovieticus—the Soviet man—had to be dependent on the state, barely living from one day to the next on state-issued ration cards.

A Dose of Reality: Can You Handle It?

Many claim that this is due to mistakes, intertest rate increases, and unsound banking, but that is all smoke and mirrors. Unsound banking practices have been the norm since the Federal Reserve was created, and even long before, and purposely so. We live in a time of total corruption, fractional reserve banking, intentional monetary inflation, and outright theft of all money, property, and assets, by the tiny ruling class. This all has happened with the help of this controlled, bought and paid for, and evil government. This is not about interest rates, it is not about bad management, or unsound banking ‘practices,’ as all these things were done intentionally in order to steal most everything, and then control who and what is left. Attempting to lay blame by using these excusatory rationalizations, hides the big picture, allowing concentration on the isolation and criticism of particular individuals, mismanagement, and certain entities, while the real problem that is criminal corruption of the entire system, is ignored by the economically ignorant proletariat herd.

Dare I say it again for the thousandth time; everything that has happened, and everything that is happening, has been planned in advance, is not coincidental or accidental, is not natural or organic, and is not a mistake; it is all intentional; it is all conspiracy. It is all related to achieving an agenda of mass control. It is not democrat or republican, it is not liberal or conservative, it is not left or right; it is all these things and more, because there is no difference in any political party or class. Evil is evil, evil begets evil, and all politics, government, and most all of those who choose to rule, are evil.

Guest Editorialist:
Eric Hoffer

All mass movements strive, therefore, to interpose a fact-proof screen between the faithful and the realities of the world. They do this by claiming that the ultimate and absolute truth is already embodied in their doctrine and that there is no truth nor certitude outside it. The facts on which the true believer bases his conclusions must not be derived from his experience or observation but from holy writ.

A two-tiered justice system and the perils of a Trump arrest

In the past, there have been Democrat and Republican presidents, but none have ever faced criminal charges despite committing violations during their presidencies. So why is Trump a target? For that, we have to look at the record of these previous presidents who have received favorable treatment.

Irrespective of their party affiliation, on major issues such as big government, open borders, amnesty to illegal aliens, crony capitalism, and gratuitous foreign wars, they all share a consensus.

They may have minor differences on silly social issues that are inconsequential.

Trump was the only modern president to not start a new foreign war nor escalate an existing war. Trump attempted to protect the border. Trump empowered people with his robust economy.

Would a limited run on the banks be an effective means of peaceful protest?

Recently I dropped in at the woefully disappointing Badlands Media and listened to ‘Devolution Power Hour”.

At one point, the topic turned to protests that might arise from a contrived Trump indictment.

Of course the speakers advised against another J6 setup. The Canadian trucker strike was mentioned and then a novel idea was suggested.

I don’t know if it was Chris Paul or the Flat Earth Guy but one of them suggested  coordinated bank withdrawals as a means of peaceful protest.

Food for thought. What would happen if a million people decided they needed an extra hundred dollars walking around money? Would the message be received? What if 10 million people withdrew a hundred dollars on the same day? What is 10 million people drew out a larger amount? What if larger numbers withdrew larger numbers?

If the message was received, would it be passed upstream (or downstream if you are of the banksters-control-everything school) to the appropriate destination?

Would it be felt at all?

Would such a protest be self-destructive? If you have $20k in the bank and your $1k withdrawal in coordination with fellow protestors results in your bank’s failure, would you be better off? The Biden Administration might have a soft spot for banks patronized by Democrat donors but they might not display the same elevated compassion for you.

Would a coordinated withdrawal hasten the inevitable mass bank collapse? Is hastening the inevitable good? Is hastening the inevitable bad? A mass bank collapse is inevitable, isn’t it?

Would a limited withdrawal–a small scale protest with the warning that more could follow–send the right message to the right people? I don’t know. Once more, the editor has more questions than answers.

Everything.

Defunct Silicon Valley Bank had no chief risk officer between April 29 and Jan. 3. That’s when it wolfed down Treasury bonds whose value slid while the Federal Reserve jacked up interest rates. Silicon Valley Bank also should have broadened its customer base, rather than till Big Tech’s narrow soil.

SVB did have a chief diversity officer on duty. It also loaned to shaky clean-power companies.

SVB’s board might have demanded more corporate attention to these matters, but what did they know? Only one member had a clue about banking—former Barclays Investment Bank executive Tom King.

That resort to low-minded name-calling always seems like the “big tell” that they know that the people know that they’re full of it. Never mind that Time ran an exposé shortly after the election diagramming in great detail how “a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, work[ed] together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information.” Never mind that the American people later learned that Facebook CEO “Mark Zuckerberg and other left-wing actors commandeered election operations in blue hubs of swing states in 2020” by “strategically bankroll[ing] and staff[ing] local government election offices, which are in charge of voter registration, voting, and vote counting.” Never mind that leftist agitators had spent months in the run-up to the election threatening to unleash mayhem if Biden “won” the so-called “national popular vote” but lost the Electoral College. Never mind that those same leftist agitators also spent months seeding a public narrative that a “red mirage” would show Trump winning before days of ballot-hunting eventually overturned those ephemeral victories. Nope — put all those public admissions and “color revolution” propaganda campaigns aside, you dumb deplorables, and blithely accept the authorities’ assurances that Biden’s election was on the up-and-up. People with power crossed their hearts and promised they were telling the truth; what more could Americans without power possibly require?

“An economy robbed of failure is also robbed of success, because failure provides knowledge about how to succeed. Failure is the healthy process whereby a poorly run entity is deprived of the ability to do more economic harm.”
