This is an interesting documentary but it gives this writer pause. Art is art. Journalism is journalism. Does one plus one equal two? Something more? Something less?
The written word nicely accommodated literary journalism. London, Mencken, Steinbeck, Capote, and my favorite, P. J. O’Rourke, to name but a few practitioners. Literary art, coupled with journalism, produced handsome offspring. Can the same be said for video art?
The tsunami of video now in its third decade has given rise to many new forms, including the artistic documentary. Characterized by background music, non-linear timing, non-sequiturs, tangents that may or not make be germane to the larger narrative, B-rolls that are sometimes pulled from fiction, and a continued emphasis on emotional impact over dry facts.
The poster child for artistic documentary might be Mr. Truth Bomb. We enjoy his work but we have not shared it here. This site is dedicated to news and over 90 percent of our links concern topics of immediate interest presented in a factual manner. We honor traditional left-brained journalism, dull as it might be for some people.
This a long disclaimer but worth future discussion.

5. We try to not link to sites with pay walls. This eliminates NYT and WaPo (who cares?) but also eliminates WSJ and Epoch Times. We hope that Epoch Times changes their business model because they are one of the best news outlets in the English language.
6. We believe it is more important than ever for Americans to monitor world affairs. The most influential man in America is probably George Soros and he is not in America–nor is he an American. Other understated influences on America include World Economic Forum, BBC, and CBC, to name but a few.
7. Most English language newspapers in non-English speaking countries are paid subscription sites. This presents an ongoing challenge to report on world affairs.
8. We try to avoid linking to mainstream media when possible We are not hesitant to link to mainstream sources if the news story involves raw data, such as the daily stock market or weather statistics or sports scores. Even then, we usually provide a “Mainstream” disclaimer.
