American Finance now is in the business of receiving free money (loans at minimal interest) from government-chartered central banks (issuing “credit” from nowhere), that banks, hedge funds, private equity outfits, and sundry freebooters can roll into instruments such as interest-yielding bonds (loans back to government) and derivatives (algorithmic bets derived, abstracted from, and tuned to market movements) magically multiplying money that finally produces nothing of value — though it may translate into yacht purchases, alimony payments, luxury suites at ballparks, private Caribbean islands, and traffic in humans for use as sex toys.

The Biden business model also applies nicely to medicine and higher education, two endeavors saturated in prestige and pomp, like the doings in the White House, but which, similarly to that hotbed of policy and action, in the case of medicine, produces shocking amounts of unnecessary death (est. 251,000 a year from iatrogenic treatment errors), and in the case of higher ed, the production of specious and harmful Big Ideas — while both endeavors expand like turbo-tumors within the dying body of an expiring manufacturing economy.

Not Exactly A Film Review: “Sound of Freedom”

I tried to watch “Sound of Freedom” on July 4 but the theater was sold out.

I caught a matinee on July 8.

People voiced the concern that the movie might be too graphic or too disturbing. I voiced the concern that I might get suckered into a docudrama.

Understand, I like fiction movies and I like documentaries but docudramas are another matter. Docudramas have their place and that place is television. People should not be charged to view a docudrama.

The movie is NOT a docudrama. It is entertaining with enough stealth, stunt, and chase to satisfy the popcorn eater. Hero. Resistance. Tension. Conflict. MacGuffin. Detailed sets. Great acting. Check all the boxes.

James Caviezel performs a lecture as the credits roll. He addresses child trafficking and I found it unusual, but it was brief and viewers seem to like it. What seemed strange to me is that Caviezel complimented the audience for their bold action in viewing his movie.

Understand, I am a big, big fan of creative marketing even when I am the mark. “The Sound of Freedom” promoters sold us on “doing our part’ while sticking it to Disney and sticking it to Hollywood and sticking it to the Man, too, I guess.  Sit there for two hours, munch on some overpriced Jujyfruits,  and the official scorer will credit you with an assist in the battle against child exploitation. Not quite stolen valor but possibly the same zip code.

All in all, a great movie that will please both the tweed coat and the knuckle dragger, the righteous as well as the indifferent. One measure of a good movie is how much chatter it generates. By this standard, “Sound of Freedom” is a blockbuster.

A rule of thumb I have expressed before: Tell me what is suppressed and I will tell you what is probably true. I am tempted to put “vast, high-reaching child sex network” conspiracies in the same circular file that contains flat Earth or Biden clones or Quantum Financial System material. Counter that position with the content producers who were chased off of YouTube after discussing pedophile networks. Counter that with the Pizzagate pundits who have been banished from social media. Counter that with MSM hacks railing against “QANON conspiracies”.  I can’t prove the crime but I can prove the coverup.

Proving the coverup does not prove the crime but it should prompt us to reexamine the alleged crime. This brings us to this interesting clip from the most trusted name in news.

I should credit Patrick Gunnels with mentioning the absurdity of trotting out a guy named Rothschild to attack baseless conspiracy theories. And even though I usually do not rag on people’s looks, this Rothschild gives off a major creep vibe. Remember, this network is an ongoing confirmation of rampant pedophile master conspiracies.

Who could forget this CNN producer who was sentenced to 19 years in prison for crimes involving a 9-year-old?

Whereas most of Rothschild’s verbiage is an effort to divert the viewer from both “SoF” and Q, there are two points that deserve our attention. One, the statistics tossed around involving the number of slaves, trafficked children, dollar value of human trafficking, etc. Two, I hate to agree with Rothschild but he nailed the audience participation angle that I referenced earlier. Rothschild:

These films are created out of moral panics. They’re created out of bogus statistics. They’re created out of fear. And with something like Sound of Freedom, it specifically is looking at QAnon concepts of these child trafficking rings that are run by the high-level elites and only people like Tim Ballard and only people like Jim Caviezel, and by extension, only people like the ticket buyer can help bring these trafficking rings down. So, there’s a very participatory element. You’re not just going to see a movie, you’re just killing two hours on a hot day. You are helping bring down these pedophile rings and save children. Now, it’s not true, but it’s a very comforting and it’s a very warm feeling to have.

“Sound of Freedom” has succeeded in raising awareness but we should also credit CNN, Rolling Stone, et al.  What subject deserves closer inspection?

  1. The existence of unicorns? Not suppressed. Not worth examining.
  2.  Flat Earth? Not suppressed. Not worth examining.
  3. Quantum Financial System? Not suppressed. Not worth examining.
  4. 9/11 Counter Conspiracies? Not suppressed. Not worth examining.
  5. Biden Clones (And every other story that involves the Xeroxing of a grown person)? Not suppressed. Not worth examining.

We could add to this list, but that is enough for now. What is currently being suppressed? Child sex trafficking.  Insert Academy Award acceptance speech here: “I want to thank my agent…my wife…my Aunt Sophie…the citizens of Cartenega…and most of all, I would like to thank the most trusted name in news who validates our claims with their actions, both onscreen and off…

“Sound of Freedom”  5 stars out of 5.

Don’t miss it!

Postscript: I saw the movie at a strip mall anchored by a grocery store. I went to the 4:20 showing so I was in the store at about 6:45 on a Saturday night. This is not a high-volume period for grocers.

In the smattering of customers, I spotted a middle-aged man wearing a MAGA hat and a  black t-shirt that read “Kill  All Pedophiles” in white lettering. Naturally, I walked across the bakery section to ask him if he had just seen “Sound of Freedom”. He confirmed that he had been in the audience with me and we agreed that it was a good movie and I moved on to the express line.

My fellow viewer caught up with me at the checkout and we discussed the film further, inviting our cashier into our brief conversation.

Two things struck me about this guy. First, he slightly resembled one of the pedos in the movie. Second, he seemed like he should have been fitted with a peasant’s pitchfork. I thought to myself, this is the face of the angry mob in 2023. If someone would have shouted out “Let’s storm the castle!” my MAGA friend would have led the charge. Perhaps I had been given a sneak preview of a coming attraction.

When Slave Owners Chose Federal Power over Local Sovereignty

A recurring theme in American politics is the cynical use of federal power by those who simultaneously pretend to favor “states’ rights” or “local control.” We see this today when Republicans one minute say they favor local control with gun laws or Obamacare—and then demand the federal government impose nationwide drug prohibitions. We see it among Democrats who want local control over “sanctuary cities” for illegal immigrants, but then denounce the idea that states ought to decide for themselves on abortion policy.

The basic logic goes like this: if you’re negotiating from a position of relative weakness at the federal level, take a faux “principled” stand in favor of local or state sovereignty. However, once it looks like you might have the political power necessary to force federal laws down everyone’s throat, declare the issue to be “too important to be left up to state or local control.”
This habit of declaring every “important” issue to be a matter for federal intervention is very much the story of American politics over the past century. From alcohol prohibition to social welfare benefits to an out-of-control FBI, American policymakers never tire of “discovering” new ways that every alleged problem must be solved by a federal “solution.”

Brace Yourself For The War On Pets

The 90  million American domestic canines and 60 million American domestic felines leave behind a huge carbon pawprint (someone else thought that one up).  Sparky and Mittens subsist largely on meat. Processed meat that has been cooked and bagged or canned and driven to your doorstep. How soon will be before the Ecozoterrorists chant “No more dogs” and vandalize veterinary hospitals?

America’s dogs and cats snarf down more than 200 petajoules worth of food per year — roughly the same as the entire human population of France. Which group smells better?

“I’m not a vegetarian, but eating meat does come at a cost,” he continued. “Those of us in favor of eating or serving meat need to be able to have an informed conversation about our choices, and that includes the choices we make for our pets.”

According to Patrick Hanson, the CEO of Luxaviation, a Luxembourg-based luxury airline firm, having pets can be just as polluting as travelling by private jet.

They came for the tetrapods but I wasn’t a tetrapod…

How To Create a Fake News Cycle

Except for those in the business, few people understand the inner workings of the media world. As a doctor and lifelong Democratic voter who pulled the lever for Biden in 2020, I had no clue. Prior to COVID-19, I trusted that what I was reading represented the truth. My experience running the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) quickly disabused me of that idea.

The first wave hit in December 2020, when I testified in the Senate that corticosteroids were saving my COVID patients’ lives. My recommendations weren’t just ignored – they were attacked, and I was personally ridiculed as a fraud and Trump puppet. My life and career were upended. I felt forced to resign my faculty position. It was cold comfort when a few months later, a large study confirmed my testimony and government agencies added steroids to the standard of care for COVID patients.

I struggled to make sense of it through much of 2021. The Biden administration and the mainstream media single-mindedly pushed untested vaccines even as the FLCCC accumulated more and more evidence that cheap, generic medicines could stop COVID. As I detailed in my new book, The War on Ivermectin, simply presenting evidence that doctors were using the medicine to treat and prevent COVID around the world was a dog whistle for the mob.

Blobocracy

Everybody knows that the tension building is unendurable, that eventually things will break, and we all worry what kind of country we will have when the breaking ends. I’ll tell you what it will be: it will be a country without a Blob. The Blob thrives on money, and one of the first things to break will be our money and all the operations that generate, multiply, and move it. For years, we anti-Blobbers have been on the receiving end of punishments doled out so liberally by the Blob and its followers. Soon, all the lying, including the lying about our money, will bring on events that’ll deprive the Blob of its nourishment. It will shrink and desiccate into a fragile little nugget of residual malevolence that can be put down like a small, rabid animal.

There will be fewer of us around then, and I think you know who that will mostly be — if the Blob doesn’t do something desperately stupid and suicidal in its agonizing demise, like provoke a lobbing of nukes around the world (as it is currently threatening to do). Otherwise, those fewer of us will then inhabit a land in recovery from a long list of injuries, bad choices, and insults. We’ll know what lying sounds like and there will be a lot less of it because you will no longer be able to pretend that it’s for our own good.

It’s the General Election, Stupid

Donald Trump has towered over the last four elections.  After premeditated endless vilification and grotesquely unfair impeachments during his term in the presidency, the Democrats successfully focused on Trump as their overarching campaign issue in the 2020 presidential election as well as the 2018 and 2022 mid-terms.

Unraveling the Fallacy of Natural Monopolies

Monopolies, in their truest form, are products of government intervention and involvement in the marketplace. Through regulations, barriers to entry, and artificial privileges granted by the state, monopolistic tendencies arise.

Government-imposed regulatory barriers, like licensing requirements, red tape, and complex compliance standards, hinder the free operation of markets. Licensing requirements restrict entry into industries by creating hurdles for new entrants. The burdensome process of licensing deters competition and allows existing firms to maintain dominance. Excessive red tape and compliance standards divert resources away from productive activities, hampering innovation and competitiveness. These barriers distort market signals, discourage entrepreneurs, and limit consumer choice, thereby stifling market competition.

The Affirmative-Action Ruling Strengthens Vast Federal “Anti-Discrimination” Powers

One of the most pernicious developments in the history of federal law was the adoption of the so-called “Equal Protection Clause” (found in the Fourteenth Amendment).

This new section of the constitution, adopted in 1868, turns the Bill of Rights on its head. The Bill of Rights, of course, was written to limit federal power only. It’s why the First Amendment begins with the phrase “Congress shall make no law…” Note there is no mention of state legislatures. It was only after the adoption of the Fourteenth Amendment that federal courts took upon themselves new powers to force every state and local government to comply with federal courts’ novel interpretations of the Bill of Rights. Known as “incorporation” this new legal doctrine ensured that the Bill of Rights functioned to expand federal power rather than limit it. As a result, the United States ceased to be a true confederation of states—as described by the Constitution as ratified in 1788—and moved much further toward becoming a unitary state.

Killing Occluded Information Links

Clickbait comes in many forms. Usually, it involves a deceptive or sensationalized link. Think of the old days when people physically shopped at grocery stores. The checkout line would offer “National Enquirer” “Weekly World News” or other publications featuring attention-grabbing headlines that often did not match with the embedded story.

The tabloids were notorious for their blunderbuss headlines. When you sell your product from a newsstand or vending machine you have to get the passersby’s attention. Sometimes the article lived up to its billing and sometimes it fell short. The paying customer was okay with the pocket change risk.  Ask Rupert Murdoch about this marketing scheme and the conversation might rapidly transition to his family’s vast fortunes.

Seductive, sensational, and bogus headlines found greener pastures on the Internet, and it remains an endless summer. Let’s sidestep the “I am shocked, shocked I tell you” phase and accept for now that deception is part of the terrain. Let’s move on to a more obnoxious form of clickbait.

I hate occluded clickbait. That is, I hate titles like “Hollywood Reacts to beloved star’s Death.” The editor has intentionally withheld the star’s identity to prompt you to click on the link. What is irritating about this ploy is that the site has already captured your attention but now the webmeister intends to maximize your onsite clicks. They are slowing down your consumption of information to improve their standing with search engines. That is rude and insulting.

This writer is especially hostile to slide shows. Slide shows disrupt the flow of information. Material that might take seconds to scan and possibly dismiss just as quickly becomes an ordeal. The slides are arranged in such a way as to maximize clicks. A scroll down a long article would probably yield one site-based click. Arranged into a slideshow, the site can record dozens and dozens of coins in this digital currency.

Imagine a restaurant where the waiter’s compensation is based on the number of trips to your table. Instead of serving the entree and leaving, the waiter has divided your burger and fries into 30 equal-sized portions. Want another bite? Just summon the waiter.

You just wanted a quick lunch and then get back to work. Now, the afternoon is dragging on and you only tested a third of your food. Yes, the waiter is prompt and only a few times did he add a commercial message before delivering the next morsel but your time is limited.

You consider voicing your concerns to management, but you know the deal. Management supports the paid incremental service because it satisfies the search engine gods.  Without search engine grace, no one will even know of the bistro’s existence. The best way to satisfy the gods is to increase the number of “internal links”.  Rather than expand into desserts or takeouts or new product lines, management has chosen to prolong your dining experience. Waiter happy. Boss happy. Search gods happy. If you are an idiot, you might also be happy.

Slideshows are an elevated form of obnoxious. Occluded Information Links (OIL) are almost as bad. Yes, we expect this sort of thing from msn. We don’t expect it from Daily Caller.

The following links are all from today’s Daily Caller home page.

Unionizing the Non-profit Sector

The effort to unionize the far-left advocacy organization was launched in 2019 after a group of employees complained that SPLC leadership had engaged in sexual and racial discrimination. The SPLC’s board ultimately fired Morris Dees, the group’s co-founder, and the organization’s legal director was forced to resign.

Yet the complaints on the part of employees arose from issues outside of harassment and discrimination. They claimed that they were overworked and burned out, that they were underpaid, and that the organization had departed from its mission. As Gil explained, the SPLC “had a problem with mismanagement and toxicity.”

The group of employees supported unionization for a mix of reasons: They wanted better pay and working conditions, but they also wished to show that the SPLC would remain ideologically aligned with progressive principles. The question as to which goal — compensation or ideology — is more important to union organizers at the SPLC and, increasingly, other non-profit organizations, is worth exploring in greater depth.

Who said a celebrity is someone who is famous for being famous?

According to Bing:

The term originates from an analysis of the media-dominated world called The Image: A Guide to Pseudo-events in America (1961), by historian and social theorist Daniel J. Boorstin. In it, he defined the celebrity as “a person who is known for his well-knownness”.

Hmmm.

Circa 1976, when most American homes still only had access to three or four channels, and the fuse was still burning on what would be a cable explosion, Dick Cavett mused aloud at the dilution of fame. He had watched a recent version of a delightfully wacky game show called “Celebrity Sweepstakes” that featured six–what else?–celebrities. Cavett stated that he could only identify one or two of the acclaimed celebrities while reminding the audience, “…and I’m in the business.”

Then we had cable TV and The Internet and more Internet and YouTube and Twitter and even more social media. The celebrity concept seemed to change with each technological advance. An evolving paradigm, if you will.

Predictably, the species has grown to Malthusian proportions. The numbers swell with the absence of anything resembling predation, excommunication, or retirement. There are no ex-celebrities. In 1969, Pope Paul VI removed over two dozen saints from the canonical roster of holy people. Recently, we have seen monument toppling, the renaming of institutions, and even the disinterment of fallen soldiers. Meanwhile, cancel culture has bypassed celebrityship. Even if you are the third banana in a short-run sitcom that ceased production several decades ago, you are still in the club. Once a celebrity, always a celebrity.

With that in mind, let me direct your attention to GLAAD’s recent call for censorship.

Let us put the content of the letter on the proverbial back burner and examine the celebrity signatories. Get ready to scroll.

Without consulting IMDB, how many of these names do you recognize?

I could identify 6 of these by name in which the name produces a picture in my mind.

I could reference a show or movie associated with 5 of the listed.

There are about a dozen names that are familiar but do not bring trigger any mental association.

I am not trying to be intentionally daft and granted, I do not consume pop culture as ravenously as I did years (decades actually) ago. Still, I could identify more YouTubers or Civil War generals, or past winners of the Indianapolis 500 than I can name from this list.

How many can you identify?

2. We sometimes link to Fox affiliates.

3. We sometimes link to sites that contain a video that might have a snippet from Fox News (usually Tucker Carlson).

4. We try to avoid second hand news stories that are sourced from Fox News or Fox Business News.

5. We try to not link to sites with pay walls. This eliminates NYT and WaPo (who cares?) but also eliminates WSJ and Epoch Times. We hope that Epoch Times changes their business model because they are one of the best news outlets in the English language.

6. We believe it is more important than ever for Americans to monitor world affairs. The most influential man in America is probably George Soros and he is not in America–nor is he an American. Other understated influences on America include World Economic Forum, BBC, and CBC, to name but a few.

7. Most English language newspapers in non-English speaking countries are paid subscription sites. This presents an ongoing challenge to report on world affairs.

8. We try to avoid linking to mainstream media when possible We are not hesitant to link to mainstream sources if the news story involves raw data, such as the daily stock market or weather statistics or sports scores. Even then, we usually provide a “Mainstream” disclaimer.

Seven Truths to Unmask the Regressive Left

Inflation is stealing your standard of living; as Thomas Sowell said, it is a “quiet but effective way for the government to transfer resources from the people to itself, without raising taxes.” Do you any longer doubt why the government knowingly and dramatically inflates the money supply? It’s evident that some in government and academia want the U.S. economy to tank. No economic metric affects everyone so broadly as inflation. The government simply determines how much more to take from you to compensate them for inflation’s damage. The government is always made whole; are you? It borrows against our children’s future. We have no comparable ability to seize wealth, as does the government—a demonstration of unrestrained evil in action.

Radical Decentralization Was the Key to the West’s Rise to Wealth and Freedom

Although modern EU centralizers are attempting it, at no point has European civilization ever fallen under the dominion of a single state as has been the case in China. Even during the early modern period, as some polities managed to form absolutist states, much of Europe—such as the highly dynamic areas in the Low Countries, Northern Italy, and the German cities—remained in flux and highly decentralized. The rise of the merchant classes, banking, and an urban middle class—which began as early as the Middle Ages and were so essential in building industrial Europe—thrived without large states.

After all, while a large polity with few internal borders can indeed lead to large markets with fewer transaction costs, concentrating power in one place brings big risks; a state that can facilitate trade across a large empire is also a state that can stifle trade through regulation, taxation, and even expropriation.

The former vast kingdoms and empires of Asia may have once been well positioned to foster the creation of a wealthy merchant class and middle class. But the fact is this didn’t happen. Those states instead focused on stifling threats to state power, centralizing political control of markets, and extorting the public through the imposition of fines and penalties on those who were disfavored by the ruling classes.

It is not the most confusing of times–or maybe it is.

Suddenly I am drenched with contradictory information from multiple sources on three separate subjects. Just like that an app on my phone stops working.
