Today’s Censorship Is Personal

When I was a kid, “news” consisted of a 20-minute broadcast on one of three channels that said the same thing. We believed that’s all there was. With such strict controls on information, one can never know what one is missing.

In 1995, the web browser was invented and an entire world grew up around it that included news from many sources, and then eventually social media too. The ambition was summarized in the name “YouTube:” this was a television from which anyone could broadcast. Facebook, Twitter, and others came along to give every single person the power of an editor or broadcaster.

Keeping with the long tradition of control, what was government to do? There had to be a way but getting hold of this giant machinery called the Internet was not going to be an easy task.

We Are Living In James Madison’s Nightmare

As dangerous as faction was, though, he believed that the checks-and-balances he and his colleagues had written into our Constitution would prevent any one special interest group from ever rising up and taking over, to the disadvantage of everybody else.

“Among the numerous advantages promised by a well constructed union, none deserves to be more accurately developed than its tendency to break and control the violence of faction.”

And he was very clear about what he meant with that word:

“By a faction, I understand a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or a minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community.” (emphasis mine)

Unfortunately, wealthy and powerful factions “adverse to the rights of other citizens” have arisen several times in American history. Each time they have torn our nation apart. The most famous was the faction of a few hundred fabulously rich democrat plantation owners in the South who had ended democracy in those states and then reached out to end democracy in the entire nation. Stopping that authoritarian faction claimed an estimated 620,000 American lives.

The Anti-Democratic Movement Targeted Ralph Nader First. We Should Have Paid More Attention

Twenty years and multiple political upheavals later, the Democrats are taking the sabotage game it played in 2004 up a notch or ten. It’s taken the position that all of Joe Biden’s potential challengers within the party and without are, in effect, new Naders, whose presences are “distorting” the real election. The major difference between 2004 and now is that thanks to major changes in both the Democratic and Republican parties, current Democrats have the money and institutional capacity to attempt a legal campaign to “Naderize” even the likely GOP nominee, Trump, essentially seeking to ballot-block their way to victory.

Democrats first disenfranchised internal party challengers like Marianne Williamson, Dean Phillips, and (initially) Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. through tactics like declaring the New Hampshire primary “non-compliant” and “meaningless” and canceling the Florida primary. Then, when Dr. Cornel West, Kennedy, and a new party called “No Labels” decided to seek third-party ballot access, money from LinkedIn billionaire Reid Hoffmanformer “Right-wing hit man” turned Clintonian organizational assassin David Brock, and a group fronted by former presidential candidate Dick Gephardt was quickly deployed, leading to a meeting of Biden advocacy groups in which one of the participants warned potential third party entrants, “If you have one fingernail clipping of a skeleton in your closet, we will find it… We are going to come at you with every gun we can possibly find.”

New documents strengthen—perhaps conclusively—the lab-leak hypothesis of Covid-19’s origins Editorial questions: Is the term “lab-leak” euphemistic? Would a mere “leak” result in worldwide circulation of said virus?

Trump LOST. Get OVER it. Move ON.

So every time one of these Con Inc. people start saying stuff like “Well Trump ran a losing campaign back in 2020 and he lost fair and square to Biden so according to this 2020 election data right here, what he needs to now is…” to ‘explain’ to us what he needs to do to win in 2024? Or to pontificate to us about how he’ll lose this upcoming election?

Right there is where they lose us. Because they can’t admit the obvious. And if they can’t admit the obvious, are they really a good source for news analysis? I would say no.

Why should anybody keep listening to the analysis of people who either can’t accurately see the last presidential election, or even worse, they see it but they refuse to acknowledge it, as they babble their cool hot take ‘prescriptions’ for what Trump needs to do to win this next one?

They have no credibility. If the most obvious fact about the 2020 election escaped you, or you are still refusing to talk about it at this late date?

Your analysis is freaking worthless.

You Can’t Defend ‘Democracy’ And The Administrative State

Moreover, the notion that government regulators are the best and brightest and attain their position through merit is complete bunkum, as anyone who’s paid more than five minutes of attention to the government already knows. This is especially true of political appointees, whose most valued skills are navigating bureaucracies and risk aversion.

Indeed, bureaucrats do not function under a notion of “accountability” that most normal people would recognize. When was the last time an agency cleaned house because its policies had failed? When was the time the administrative state was reined back in any genuine way? How many regulators or appointees are ever fired? If you were as bad at your job as Alejandro Mayorkas, you’d be out of work forever.

The New Deal’s Dark Underbelly

Roosevelt was not a passive and reactive participant in these events and his racist views of Japanese people influenced his later policies. In 1925, FDR wrote that “anyone who has travelled in the Far East knows that the mingling of Asiatic blood with European or American blood produces, in nine cases out of ten, the most unfortunate results.” In 1935, he insisted to a delegation that aggression “was in the blood” of Japan’s leaders. In 1936, when visiting Hawaii and thinking about the interactions between Japanese sailors and Japanese Americans on the islands, the president insisted that “every Japanese citizen or non-citizen on the Island of Oahu who meets these Japanese ships or has any connection with their officers or men should be secretly but definitely identified and his or her name placed on a special list of those who would be the first to be placed in a concentration camp.”

Is DEI Collapsing?

After a few years, I didn’t even bother to apply for most of the choicest scholarship opportunities, since they overtly proclaimed that “preference will be given to historically disadvantaged students.” I didn’t presume that “historically disadvantaged” meant someone like me — rural, mid-life, veteran, and leftist-nonconforming…

Not that it is any kind of revelation, but the growing chorus of concern over out-of-control Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) thought-control is well earned. In none of my classes could students or faculty engage in anything like open inquiry about race or gender. A discussion about the history of enslaved Europeans alongside the history of enslaved Africans? Crickets. A contextualization of gender roles that defied the standard “oppression” narrative? No.

After years of reading my work with nothing but praise, my advisor suddenly required me at the eleventh hour to replace the word “Indian” with something more palatable (ludicrously, the Spanish “Indio” would suffice). Another member of my committee offered to take umbrage at my comparisons of documented ethnohistoric rituals on Native Americans’ behalf, a patently paternalistic and insensible thing to do.

Ruling Class Disturbance

The elites agreed on the preeminent value of technology, cosmopolitanism, consumerism, preventing global warming, and globalism. Economic inequality was largely an afterthought, replaced by a consensus concern that the elites do more to bring promising minorities into the elite.

By contrast, religion, family life, traditions, ethnic purity, cultural continuity, stability, and the preservation of middle-class wealth and employment were completely anathema. These concerns of the tradition-oriented middle and working classes have been either ignored altogether or the object of hostility and ridicule.

For the same reasons, when Trump came along, he was also an object of hostility and ridicule. While Trump hailed from the ranks of the elite, his style was middle-class, as were his loyalties. His enemies saw him as a traitor to his class, and his supporters saw him as a champion of the voiceless.

For the elite, Obama was the archetype: cosmopolitan, minority, educated, and articulate. He was a progressive global citizen, but he was also willing to keep his hands off free trade, Wall Street, open borders, and an interventionist American foreign policy. His expansion of American intrigue overseas and the slow recovery from the 2008 Great Recession hardly dented his approval. Elites did well as the stock market soared, and Obama’s mouthing of the right words on social issues placated his ordinary supporters, even when other aspects of his presidency deviated from leftist orthodoxy.

When ‘Psychopathic’ is No Exaggeration

What would you make of someone who cheerfully – well, that is just a figure of speech; I don’t know if this individual is capable of being cheerful – sponsors the development of ‘vaccines’ that turn out to be no real vaccines, and when ‘insufficient’ numbers of people take up the call to be ‘vaccinated,’ find other means of getting their destructive payload into people? Such as arranging for these drugs to be inserted into food, for instance?

Or, who declares that those people who would dare resist the flood of mRNA jabs that are coming would be ‘excluded from society?’ (A lot is riding on the meaning of ‘exclusion,’ here, of course; he probably means, overtly at least, that they would be excluded ‘temporarily,’ and not as ‘permanently’ as those who accept the jabs.) This same individual apparently also believes that ‘billions will die’ in the next ‘pandemic’ (of the so-called Disease X), reportedly planned for 2024.

5. We try to not link to sites with pay walls. This eliminates NYT and WaPo (who cares?) but also eliminates WSJ and Epoch Times. We hope that Epoch Times changes their business model because they are one of the best news outlets in the English language.
